MY REVIEW:
Promised by her father to marry a much older and in my opinion truly evil man who held an unpayable debt over her father’s head, Rosalind Standford had no hope for her life. The man she has loved her entire life has returned to Boston but Rosalind must keep her circumstances secret from him at all costs and pretend she no longer cares for him.
The Rescue held my attention from its beginning until the end. Trent Easton was a true hero in every sense and quickly caught on to the danger that threatened Rosalind. Like a true hero he made every effort to remove her from harm and into the protection of his family ranch. I had absolutely no respect for Rosalind’s father who sacrificed his daughter’s safety and happiness to pay for his own mistakes and greed.
A riveting romantic suspense with a historical setting that spans from Boston to Texas, The Rescue is filled with plenty of action, danger, and a few unexpected twists. Characters must depend on the Lord to see them through threats on their lives and to help them forgive Rosalind’s father before they can find their own happily-ever-after.
I enjoyed reading this novel and hope to read more by this author in the future.

MY REVIEW:
“Mighty to Save” is one of those story within a story kind of books. Evelyn Nightingale is an author who as best as I can tell is working on two separate books during the course of this narrative. One is the story of Julius and Pearl and the other is a retelling of her own history with her evangelist husband Nathaniel. Readers get a pretty good dose of both those stories as the book progresses.
More than anything, the purpose of “Mighty to Save” seems to be a testimony to the power of God in the lives of the characters. Their tale is documented through both good times and bad times, triumphs and tragedies. Even when life seems to be at the lowest, the author encourages through Evelyn and Nathaniel to praise God anyway. McAdoo does not shrink from portraying real-life situations and tends to use them to illustrate the grace and redemption available to all who seek it.
I have loved many of this author’s previous novels but I am having a bit of difficulty knowing how to rate this one. I would happily give it five stars for its spiritual content. I have absolutely no complaints in that. The writing style is fairly simplistic but I nevertheless often got off track and was uncertain whether I was reading about Evelyn and Nathaniel’s present life or whether I was caught up in one of their reflections on the past or if I was reading from one of the novels Evelyn was working on. Sometimes I felt overwhelmed by all that was going on. Perhaps I was just having a bad day.
Overall, “Mighty to Save” was a pretty good book so please don’t let my own experience deter you from reading it. Many others have thoroughly enjoyed it and I’m sure many more will. Like I said, I usually enjoy this author’s books.

MY REVIEW:
I always enjoy a good historical Texas romance so if “A Stolen Heart” is any indication of future books in the series, I will definitely be reading the rest of Cabot’s Cimarron Creek Trilogy. My interest was captured during the very first chapter and I enjoyed every minute I spent within its pages.
This novel is populated with a number of interesting and usually likeable characters – from Lydia Crawford, the Yankee who has traveled to small Cimarron Creek to reunite with the man she plans to marry, Sheriff Travis Whitfield, Aunt Bertha, and even Opal, the one woman Lydia should hate. The plot moves along at a fine clip with the expected romance enhanced by plenty of mystery and suspense, humor, faith, and a few surprises. As can be predicted, by the end of the story, mysteries are solved and happily-ever-afters are in store for at least two of the characters. I thoroughly enjoyed the adventure along the way.
“A Stolen Heart” is an excellent example of what it means to walk in forgiveness as demonstrated by both Lydia and Travis. I would heartily recommend this book to everyone, especially those who like me enjoy a good historical western romance.

MY REVIEW:
I love it when I can get a good dose of history, romance, drama, and humor all in one book! Erica Vetsch has managed to do just that in “My Heart Belongs in Fort Bliss, Texas”. Fashion artist Priscilla wants nothing more than to spend just enough time in Fort Bliss to pack up her orphaned nephew and niece and take them to civilization with her. Unfortunately their uncle and post surgeon Elliot Ryder believes that he should raise them himself. Forced to remain in Fort Bliss until the matter is resolved, Priscilla manages to surprise Elliot and even herself by proving she is much more than just a fashion plate.
With a well-paced plot, strong and likeable characters, and a story that pulled me in, this book kept me happy from beginning to end. Who could fail to like such a spunky yet caring heroine or the handsome but serious hero? Then there were those two delightful children who added just the right touch of charm to the story. Most seasoned readers will expect the direction the romantic relationship will take but what fun following their journey!
I highly recommend “My Heart Belongs in Fort Bliss, Texas” and hope the other books in this series will be as enjoyable.

MY REVIEW:
“An Uncommon Protector” is the second book in Gray’s Lone Star Hero’s Love Story series. During their imprisonment in a Yankee camp on an island in Lake Erie, several Southern officers promised to always be there for each other. Since this volume features Thomas Baker, the second of those officers, I assume (and hope) that future installments will feature each of the other men.
Thus far, life has not been overly kind to Thomas Baker. In fact it has been a huge struggle. Poor choices after the war left him without money and even in jail. His only hope was for a local rancher to hire him for a year but he sure wasn’t expecting to be hired by the lovely Laurel Tracey who was attempting to run her family’s ranch on her own. Laurel’s kindness and determination quickly brings Thomas to the realization that he will do anything it takes to protect and help Laurel.
I absolutely loved this book, especially the way Thomas’ character was portrayed. His humility was endearing but also a bit sad. It was so difficult for him to believe what others saw in him – his integrity, his skill with horses, and the way he cared for others. It was wonderful to read about the emotional healing that he received through his relationships with Laurel and his officer friends. I liked Laurel also and admired her caring and forgiving spirit. I also enjoyed spending a little time with the men I met in “The Loyal Heart”. Flashbacks to Thomas’ time in the prison camp helped to add some insight into his character and the strong bond between the officers.
“An Uncommon Protector” can easily stand alone but I believe it was so much better after reading “The Loyal Heart”. Either way, if you enjoy historical fiction with a Texas setting, you cannot go wrong with this series.

MY REVIEW:
Erika Vetsch is an author who is fairly new to me but recently I have run across several of her novels and love them. If you know me at all, you know I have added yet another favorite author to my ever-growing list which makes it increasingly difficult to keep up with all their books I want to read. You can bet I will try my best to make room on my calendar to read hers.
The premise of “The Bounty Hunter’s Baby” is quite interesting. The story begins with the rugged bounty hunter Thomas Beaufort finally catching up with the outlaw he has been tracking for quite some time but once again he makes his escape. Only this time it is because Thomas chooses to give up the chase to help the young woman with the outlaw deliver her baby then doing what he can to save that baby when his mother dies. Knowing he is not equipped to take care of a baby, he takes it to the only person he knows in the area who might help. When he reaches Esther Jensen’s home, he discovers that nothing is the same as when he left several years before.
I absolutely loved “The Bounty Hunter’s Baby”. Thomas was the perfect hero even if Esther had difficulty trusting him after the way he had broken her heart. The story developed naturally and I grew to like Thomas even more with each chapter. It was fun watching how Esther eased her defenses as Thomas proved himself trustworthy over and over. This was not the typical western romance and I hope the author will be writing more in this vein.
If you enjoy western romances and are willing to try a Love Inspired novel, “The Bounty Hunter’s Baby” would be an excellent choice.
