Vanishing Point by Lisa Harris

MY REVIEW:

After reading a few chapters of “Vanishing Point” I had the thought that the story seemed familiar. Then I realized that this particular book covers the entire span of years from the time Sarah Boyd disappeared until her case and the related cases were solved. Rather than featuring Nikki Boyd as the primary character, this book features other investigators on the case, including Garrett Addison and Jordan Lambert.

As I read this suspense filled story, I felt the frustration of the investigators as they were taunted time and again by the killer who always seemed to be one step ahead of them and their pain as they were unable to prevent the death of another young woman. With a relatively fast-paced plot, the tale is laced with danger and enough twists and surprises to keep most readers on their toes. A bit of romance spiced things up just the right amount without overpowering the mystery/suspense.

I felt that “Vanishing Point” was a satisfying conclusion to the Nikki Boyd series. It could easily be a stand-alone novel but reading the other books in the series adds a broader perspective to the story. I have enjoyed reading several novels by Lisa Harris and would recommend “Vanishing Point” and any of the others to those who enjoy Christian suspense.

The FBI is pulled into the case to help, and Garrett finds himself working with Special Agent Jordan Lambert, the woman he once loved. When yet another girl dies, Garrett wonders whether he really has what it takes to be an agent. Maybe he should just walk. But while he may be done with the killer, the killer is not done with him–or Jordan.

Dangerous Illusions by Irene Hannon

MY REVIEW:

“Dangerous Illusions” is brilliant! When a young widow’s mother dies under her care, she immediately becomes a suspect when it is determined that it was an overdose. Troubling as that is, even more so are the apparent memory lapses Trish Bailey is suffering. Detective Colin Flynn is not comfortable with what he knows about the case and as time goes by the situation becomes even more dangerous. And could Colin be close to breaking the important rule of not becoming too involved with a suspect?

In “Dangerous Illusions” very little is as it seems to be.  The plot is particularly challenging with several major surprises along the way. This was one book I definitely did not want to put down for even one minute. I heartily recommend all of Irene Hannon’s books but “Dangerous Illusions” may just be the best one yet.

Cowboy Christmas Guardian by Dana Mentink

MY REVIEW:

I have read and enjoyed some of this author’s somewhat humorous romantic novels featuring dogs but I am uncertain if I have read one of her Love Inspired Suspense novels. “Cowboy Christmas Guardian” was completely different but in a very good way. In my opinion, Mentink’s ability to write such different genres so well is an indication of her giftedness.

I felt that her characters sprang to life on the pages of this book and they had my full attention as they worked out their differences and struggled to live out their lives as true Christians. As most of us know from experience, it is not always easy to walk the walk – it’s much simpler to tell others how they should behave. It was so easy to identify with Barrett when he was challenged by Shelby for doing that very thing.

Lots of action, danger, and suspense fill the pages of this novel with a few unexpected twists to keep readers engaged. The romance was evident but not in-your-face. I liked the natural way it developed without taking away from the suspense. I thought I had it all figured out but was in for one surprise at the end. I was right about the why but so wrong about who. I love it when that happens.

“Cowboy Christmas Guardian” is a riveting tale with a few breath-holding moments for this gal who would be terrified under similar circumstances. I hope I have awakened your curiosity enough that you will want to pick up your own copy.

Howdy, readers! I am thrilled to be bringing you this four book Gold Country Cowboys series that takes place in an area near and dear to my heart! My family and I have enjoyed many adventures in this amazing area, from exploring gold mines, to climbing through caverns, and soaking in the incredible history. As a matter of fact, we recently enjoyed a train trip on the historic V and T Railroad which took us past abandoned mines and even some active ones where people are engaged in modern day treasure hunting. California’s Gold Country is a fascinating place filled with secret treasures. I hope you will enjoy some wild adventures with four cowboy brothers who have some secrets of their own. God bless you all!

Rescued Hearts by Hope Toler Dougherty | Blog Tour and Kindle Fire Giveaway

MY REVIEW:

Who would have imagined that trying to rescue a lost kitten could get a girl into so much trouble? Mary Wade Kimball sure found out the hard way! A storm would quickly overtake her life and it wasn’t from the threatening wind and clouds that preceded an approaching hurricane.

“Rescued Hearts” quickly moved into an action and suspense filled tale with plenty of danger and romance to keep most readers turning those pages. Characters were well developed and I enjoyed getting to know Mary Wade and Brett during their adventure. Each of them learned valuable lessons along the way as they worked hard to avoid the men after them, including a dependence on their faith to get them through.

This exciting, faith-filled tale held my attention captive until the very end. I recommend it to all who enjoy a good suspenseful story without the blood and gore.

Sapphire Secrets by Dawn Cahill

MY REVIEW:

“Sapphire Secrets” is a novel that some might describe as edgy Christian fiction. As the story begins, Livy and her twin sister DeeDee are quite happy with their modern life and their New Age beliefs. The twins run a dance studio where they teach. Dancing is particularly important to Livy and she cannot imagine her life without it. When she decides to find out for herself what happened the day her mother died when Livy was only six, some mysterious events begin to transpire and Livy even suffers a devastating injury that could change her life forever.

The first of two books about the McCreary twins, “Sapphire Secrets” is a captivating story filled with mystery, suspense, danger, and romance. It is enlightening to watch Livy’s journey to faith and her relationship with Scott grow as the story progresses. It was also interesting to see how Livy’s new beliefs threatened her relationship with her sister DeeDee. Strong characters and a compelling plot kept me reading well into the night and made me want to also read DeeDee’s story.

I recommend both “Sapphire Secrets” and “Moonstone Secrets” to those who enjoy romantic suspense with a bit of an edge.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Twins Livy and DeeDee McCreary open a dance studio in honor of their late mother, whom they lost when they were six. Problem is, Livy remembers nothing of the day her mother died. The more she questions her family about that awful day, the more she suspects she’s been lied to all her life. While she’s seeking answers to what really happened, she keeps crossing paths with handsome engineer Scott Lorenzo, who compels her to question the New Age philosophy she was raised on. What if there is a personal God out there who cares about her? Before Livy can discover answers, a brutal accident interrupts her search. Her life flips upside down as she faces a future she is not prepared for. Yet the unanswered questions continue to haunt her. Can she find the strength to keep on with her quest, even if it means losing the two people most dear to her–her twin, and the man she loves?

Moonstone Secrets by Dawn V. Cahill

MY REVIEW:

“Moonstone Secrets” is the second book in a series but can easily stand on its own. DeeDee McCreary has traveled to Victoria, BC to meet her boyfriend Nick’s family and is hoping for a proposal but there are problems from the very beginning. When Nick disappears, DeeDee sets out on her own to find him and discovers some disturbing answers. Nick has been arrested for a serious crime and DeeDee must decide if she believes he is guilty or if she should help prove his innocence.

This book is a riveting suspense filled with mystery and danger as well as the expected romantic angle. Character development is excellent and the plot moves at a fast pace. DeeDee and Nick are both worldly people living without faith and are living their lives as would be expected. It is satisfying to watch as they discover a need for God in the midst of their critical circumstances.

I enjoyed “Moonstone Secrets” as well as the first book of the series, “Sapphire Secrets”.
