Code of Valor By Lynette Eason

MY REVIEW:

Lynette Eason seems to up the ante with every novel she writes. Just when I think it is impossible for her to top her previous books, she manages to prove me wrong once again. I believe Code of Valor may be the best one yet so I am hoping she will continue the trend and make me gladly eat my words with her next book.

Featuring Brady, another brother in the St. John family, Code of Valor begins with an attempted murder and rescue that is only the introduction to a plot filled with murder and mayhem, escalating danger, and multiple secrets that could lead to death. Eason’s characters are well developed with strong personalities and convictions. I love how the members of the St. John family support each other as well as others who enter their fold. I also loved the interaction with characters from Lynn H. Blackburn’s Dive Team series. What fun! And what would a Lynette Eason suspense be without a bit of romance? The development of the relationship between Brady and Emily seemed natural even though it took place during a crisis situation.

Code of Valor is the perfect book for anyone who wants a novel that keeps you turning those pages while sometimes even dreading what comes next. I loved this book and cannot wait for the next one!

In Too Deep by Lynn Blackburn

MY REVIEW:

Oh my, another author to add to my “must read” list! I suspected that after reading Lynn Blackburn’s first novel in this series Beneath the Surface but In Too Deep definitely confirmed it for me. The author combines compelling mystery and suspense with engaging characters, a touch of romance, and a splendid sense of humor to provide readers with an exceptional experience.

Like many recent novels, In Too Deep focuses on human trafficking but approaches it from a different angle than most that I have read. When murder is involved, the Dive Team is brought in to investigate and what they find takes them on a dangerous mission. I loved this story that features Adam from the Dive Team and Dr. Sabrina Fleming, a forensic computer analyst. The camaraderie and teasing among the team members added a natural element and helped to relieve the tension. The fast-paced plot was full of twists and surprises that kept me on edge until the very end.

I enjoyed In Too Deep very much and can’t wait to dive into the next book in this series.

Hidden Peril by Irene Hannon

MY REVIEW:

The second book in the Code of Honor series, Hidden Peril can easily be read as a stand-alone novel. In true Irene Hannon fashion, the story quickly jumps into action and takes its reader on a breath-taking and suspense-filled adventure. Kristin Dane finds herself and her fair trade shop at the center of more than one murder and has no idea why. Detective Luke Carter becomes involved in the case and is not only attracted to Kristin but determined to solve the case before more people die.

Once again I found myself immersed in Hannon’s brilliant plot as I attempted to discern the perpetrator behind the fatal plans. I had my suspicions which later proved to be correct but the many twists and turns of the plot had me second-guessing myself more than once. Hidden Peril lived up to my expectations  and reaffirmed my love for this author’s novels. I look forward to the next book in this series.

Lethal Target by Janice Cantore

MY REVIEW:

I always expect a riveting, suspense filled story when I pick up a book by Janice Cantore and Lethal Target did not disappoint. I particularly found the setting of interest because my daughter and her husband moved across the country to Oregon as traveling physical therapy assistants and their first assignment was in Grants Pass, right on the Rogue river. All I can say is that I’m thankful that the books in Cantore’s Line of Duty series are fiction!

With vivid descriptions, genuine characters, plenty of action and suspense, and a touch of romance, Lethal Target held my interest until the very end. I appreciated the fact that due to her father’s death Tess had major issues with accepting the Lord but loved that the author showed her journey toward faith in small steps that gave me hope for her eventual salvation.

There is a lot going on in Lethal Target with multiple twists, turns, and surprises in store. Of course there is at least one more book in this series so I will have to be content to wait along with other readers to find out how everything works out, especially which man Tess will choose. If you have not read any of this author’s books and are a fan of suspense novels featuring law enforcement, be sure to give Lethal Target a chance; however you might want to begin with Crisis Shot, book one of the series.

As tempers flare and emotions boil over, Tess faces the possibility of losing the town’s support.

With her relationship to Sergeant Steve Logan on shaky ground, Tess could really use a friend, and she feels drawn to Pastor Oliver Macpherson’s quiet presence. But the anger she holds over her father’s death prevents her from embracing his faith and finding peace.

Called to Protect by Lynette Eason

MY REVIEW:

I have been reading Lynette Eason‘s novels since some of her earliest ones published by Love Inspired Suspense. I have watched her talent develop over the years into first class suspense and have several friends who have now read most of her books also. We all look forward to each one that is published. I often have the good fortune to receive a review copy which is a true blessing. Called to Protect more than met my expectations and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a fast-paced suspense novel.

Called to Protect jumps in foot first and takes off running from the very first page. Chloe St. John and Deputy US Marshall Blake MacCallum find themselves working together on a human trafficking case with a much too personal connection. Both Chloe’s missing cousin and Blake’s kidnapped daughter may be held by the traffickers. The action is nonstop and the suspense builds with each page. Chloe and Blake must learn to trust each other and depend on God if they are to rescue the missing girls before it is too late.

Oath of Honor by Lynette Eason

MY REVIEW:

I don’t particularly like it when a character I’m beginning to like has to die but that happens early in “Oath of Honor”. The fact that he is not a faceless unknown brings the harsh reality to life with much more impact. I already had strong sympathy for law enforcement but getting into their heads in this book made it even more real to me.

I have long been a fan of Lynette Eason’s books since I first read some of her Love Inspired Suspense novels. Her talent has grown over the years and I MUST have every new book she publishes. “Oath of Honor” is a true gem with a brilliant plot that moves along at breakneck speed. Characters are well-rounded and easy to relate to. I’d actually like to know them but might be a bit nervous around them considering what happens to them in this book. The story is a perfect balance of action, danger, suspense, and romance with a touch of humor thrown in for good measure. The theme deals with the choices we make and how they affect our lives and the lives of others.

I enjoyed every minute of this page-turning suspense and cannot wait to see what the next installment will bring.
