If you are a fan of old westerns, you will probably love Outlaw Marshall by Al and Joanna Lacy. As I read, I was reminded of the black and white TV westerns I loved as a child in the early sixties.
The story line of Outlaw Marshall is simplistic with minimal character development. Perhaps the authors assumed the reader would be familiar with many of the characters from previous books. The basic premise of the story was good but I found the character interaction to be idealistic and far from realistic. I also quickly tired of the “turn or burn” evangelism that was a recurring theme.
If you are already a Lacy fan or looking for a pleasant read, you will probably want to add Outlaw Marshall to your collection. The book would probably be ideal for a younger audience. However, if you are looking for a meatier reading experience, you would probably do better to look elsewhere.
