MY REVIEW:
Although Liparulo’s books fall into what I would consider to be the “guy” book category, I will admit that I have enjoyed each and every one of the ones I have read (and that would be most of them). I might cringe a little in anticipation of the violence and possibly blood and gore that might lie ahead, but the man just does tell a good story. Although Deadlock is a fitting sequel to Deadfall, the reader can enjoy it without having read Deadfall.
Deadlock is a disturbing book. It is all too easy to imagine a day when technology could recreate that which is depicted in the novel. We are already seeing in increase in juvenile crime that is most likely influenced by the video games played and TV and movies watched. When the lines between reality and game are blurred, the results are chilling.
In a story filled with guns, technology, military training and the violence that accompanies them, Liparulo brings a human touch through his characters. We see the contrast between the hero John Hutchinson who truly cares about his children and others and the villain Brendan Page who sees people only as disposable means to his goal and doesn’t even care about his own son. The supporting cast is equally important as they encounter the fallout of the evil aspirations of one man.
So without giving away the plot, just let me tell you to GET THE BOOK! It is well worth your time.

Robert Liparulo is a former journalist, with over a thousand articles and multiple writing awards to his name. Readers of his action-thrillers were not surprised when his visual storytelling style caught the eye of Hollywood producers. Currently, three of his novels for adults are in various stages of development for the big screen: the film rights to Comes A Horseman were purchased by the producer of Tom Clancy’s movies; and Liparulo is penning the screenplays for GERM and Deadfall for two top producers. He is also working with the director Andrew Davis (The Fugitive, Holes) on a political thriller.
