MY REVIEW:
“When Hope Blossoms” is another example of why Kim Vogel Sawyer is one of my favorite authors when it comes to the popular genre affectionately known as Bonnet Fiction. Her characters are so down-to earth that they could be close friends or neighbors and the events in her books also seem true-to-life. Many of her characters wrestle with serious issues and sometimes question God but as in all good romance novels, there is usually a satisfying conclusion.
Tim Roper, owner of an apple orchard, prefers to keep to himself and is not at all pleased when he discovers his new neighbors are a young widow and her three children. Still devastated by her husband’s questionable death, Amy Knackstedt is determined to remain self-sufficient and take care of her children on her own. Despite Tim’s intentions to keep Amy and her children at arm’s length, circumstances continue to force their interaction and his defenses begins to crumble.
Of course the reader knows from the beginning that Tim and Amy and her children will end up together as one happy family but the fun is in reading about all the hurdles they will overcome to reach that happy ending. As always Sawyer includes a strong message of faith that is woven unobtrusively into her story. Although not a particularly exciting or suspenseful novel, “When Hope Blossoms” is nevertheless a satisfying read. Fans of Kim Vogel Sawyer will not be disappointed.
