MY REVIEW:
Ghostwriter is one seriously spooky and disturbing book. I got about halfway through and was tempted to stop reading because I just don’t do well with a lot of blood and gore. I forced myself to keep reading and was able to finish and even found a redemptive message before the end.
The plot will mess with your mind. Like Dennis Shore, you will begin to wonder if his experiences are caused by the harassment of Cillian or are they the results of his own disturbed mind and if Dennis is the one actually responsible. At times, I had a little difficulty keeping up with time in the story – sometimes Dennis was in the present, sometimes he was dreaming or remembering something in the past, and then there were the things that happened with Cillian and Bob. All a mite confusing but probably part of the author’s plan to blur the edges of reality.
If you are a fan of horror stories and can handle some blood and gore as well as a little mind bending, you will probably enjoy Ghostwriter.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
It was during third grade after a teacher encouraged him in his writing and as he read through The Narnia Chronicles by C.S. Lewis that Travis decided he wanted to be a writer. The dream never left him, and allowed him to fulfill that dream of writing fulltime in 2007.
Travis Thrasher is the author of numerous works of fiction, including his most personal and perhaps his deepest work, Sky Blue, that was published in summer of 2007. This year he has to novels published, Out of the Devil’s Mouth, and a supernatural thriller, Isolation.
Travis is married to Sharon and they are the proud parents of Kylie, born in November, 2006, and Hailey, a Shih-Tzu that looks like an Ewok. They live in suburban Chicago.
