Welcome to the Blog + Review Tour for The Lady’s Triumph by Shelly Adina & R.E. Scott, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

MY REVIEW:

I don’t remember ever hearing the term “alt history” until reading The Regent’s Devices series by Shelley Adina and R. E. Scott. The term is quite appropriate since the books take quite a few liberties with an actual period of history during the Napoleonic wars and is a very imaginative take on what could have happened if . . . The Lady’s Triumph is the third and final book in the series and it continues the adventure that began in the first book and takes it to a satisfying conclusion.

The Lady’s Triumph could probably be read as a stand alone book but why would anyone want to do that? I am so thankful that after receiving the book for review and realizing that it was the last of a series, I decided to purchase the first two books and read them before beginning my review copy. It was obvious to me that my enjoyment was enhanced by reading the entire series in order.

With its Regency Steampunk theme, this book should appeal both to YA and adult readers. The plot moves along at a smooth and steady pace with ample danger, suspense, action, and subtle romance to hold most readers’ interest. I loved the interaction between characters especially the young women who were described as tinkerers and aeronauts. Interesting devices, brave exploits, and flawed yet perfect heroes brought the story to life. I MUST read more by this excellent team of authors!

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book provided by JustReads Publicity. A favorable review was not required. All views expressed are my own.

But the saboteur who has been plaguing their efforts for months has not yet been caught.
