Ted is the son of missionaries John and Helen Dekker, whose incredible story of life among headhunters in Indonesia has been told in several books. Surrounded by the vivid colors of the jungle and a myriad of cultures, each steeped in their own interpretation of life and faith, Dekker received a first-class education on human nature and behavior. This, he believes, is the foundation of his writing.
After graduating from a multi-cultural high school, he took up permanent residence in the United States to study Religion and Philosophy. After earning his Bachelor’s Degree, Dekker entered the corporate world in management for a large healthcare company in California. Dekker was quickly recognized as a talent in the field of marketing and was soon promoted to Director of Marketing. This experience gave him a background which enabled him to eventually form his own company and steadily climb the corporate ladder.
Since 1997, Dekker has written full-time. Sharon Dunn is the author of Death of a Garage Sale Newbie, book one in the Bargain Hunters Mysteries, and the Ruby Taylor mystery novels including Sassy Cinderella, which was voted Book of the Year by American Christian Fiction Writers. Ginger and her friends in the Bargain Hunters Network (BHN) are off for a wild and crazy adventure in Calamity, Nevada. While Ginger’s husband Earl participates in the Inventors Expo, the girls plan to do some major bargain shopping at the World’s Biggest Yard Sale. Needless to say, their plans become slightly derailed.
Factor in an aging, overbooked, wacky theme hotel, the Squirrel Lover’s convention, a cast of quirky characters, a lost cat and more than one subplot, and you have the formula for a fun and suspenseful story.
Through a series of unfortunate circumstances, Ginger becomes embroiled in events surrounding a murder and is in danger herself more than once. Because of all her trials, she learns what is truly important in life.
Death of a Six-Foot Teddy Bear has all the elements of a good mystery including several prime suspects and a surprise ending. I would recommend it to anyone who loves a good mystery, especially one with plenty of humor on the side.

Consider this – was Farholme really a perfect world? Sure, under the rule of the Assembly, there had been peace for over twelve thousand years. Evil, violence, and war were known only through ancient history. Everyone had their purpose and their needs were met. They were comfortable and well fed. Everyone worshiped the Lamb. That was the way it had always been.
So was their Christianity real or just the status quo? Is that why the subtle changes such as lies, prejudice, etc. were largely unrecognized or ignored before the destruction of the gate?
Is there a parallel to our own modern Christianity? Are we too comfortable? Do we just roll with the flow and overlook the everyday sin in our lives? Or do we do some soul searching like Merral and find to our dismay that the real enemy is in ourselves?
These were just a few of the questions that came to my mind while reading The Shadow and Night by Chris Walley. And to be truthful, I didn’t like all the answers.

Imagine a perfect world. A world with no sin, no war, no murder, no theft, no need for law enforcement or weapons. A world where everyone believes in and worships the one true God. A world totally at peace. Farholme is just such a place – a man made world in the distant future many light years from earth.
Chris Walley has done a superb job of creating a perfectly believable world with characters that have depth and whom you come to care about.
The primary story line deals with the subtle introduction of evil into this perfect world. As in all stories of good and evil, a hero emerges (however reluctantly) with various other team players.
Although the plot moves slowly at first, it sets the stage for the later action by giving the reader an understanding of the environment and the characters involved. I would recommend The Shadow and Night to anyone who enjoys science fiction or fantasy novels.
