With the reappearance of a high-school sweetheart, deliveries from Ukraine addressed to her, and the discovery of a mysterious, vintage aquamarine gemstone, Nel senses God is pulling her into the past to restore their faith and their futures. Told partially through Jakob’s flashbacks of fleeing genocide-ridden eastern Europe at the turn of the twentieth century, the novel combines elements of mystery, history, faith and romance to reveal how God redeems the broken years … and our future.

If you would like to read the first chapter of Then Sings My Soul, go HERE.

MY REVIEW:

Then Sings My Soul is a beautifully written novel that will tug at the reader’s heartstrings. The story features Nel Stewart and her father Jakob. The contemporary story reveals ninety-plus-year-old Jakob’s history through a series of flashbacks. Although many believed his nightmares to be the results of increasing dementia, they were triggered by memories from his turbulent past. Daughter Nel had spent years running from her own past and only returned home for her mother’s funeral.

Then Sings My Soul is a story about regrets, a story about family, and a story about restoration. With some drama, mystery, and romance, the story weaves its spell so that the reader experiences every minute of Jakob’s escape as if she were there with him and his brother.

This book was not at all what I expected but I am glad that I had the opportunity to read it.

This week, theChristian Fiction Blog Allianceis introducingThen Sings My SoulDavid C.
