My first listen to “Adore” was in the car with my husband and may I say I was underwhelmed? The volume was down low and I could not concentrate on the music because of conversation and road noise. At that point I would have given it a ho hum review. The next time I needed to make a trip in the car I decided to give it another chance. I was alone and could crank up the volume without annoying my husband. I also do my best listening in the car since I usually have at least a thirty minute drive with very few distractions other than traffic.
Second time was a charm. At the greater volume the songs literally came alive. Without distractions I was also able to actually understand the lyrics. As usual, Chris Tomlin came through with his own interpretation to several well-known Christmas songs – sometimes by the addition of lyrics and other times by creating a unique medley of several songs. Other unfamiliar songs were also excellent and the combination of songs is one that relates the true meaning of Christmas and should help bring listeners to worship. I can imagine that many worship services may include some of these songs during this Christmas season. One particular line that has stuck with me is “Jesus, the love song of God”. How meaningful is that?
With a wonderful list of songs and such a great group of guest artists, “Adore” is certain to be a favorite for years to come.

MY REVIEW:
From the opening notes to the final chorus, “It’s Christmas” was an enjoyable experience. This collection of mostly familiar songs showcased MercyMe’s personal touch and arrangements without losing anything from the original versions. The introductory song, “Newborn” was a worshipful experience that established the reason for the season. Subsequent songs varied from old Christmas favorites to hymns and from old-time rock ‘n roll to a little bit of country. Many of the songs brought back fond childhood memories. This album has something for everyone. I know it will probably become a staple on our Christmas playlist.

I have never eaten at Pizza Ranch and judging by the wonderful food photos on their website, it is probably a good thing they do not have a location in my area. It would be much too great a temptation for someone who is trying hard to limit her carbs. Actually, if I was a little younger and had some money to invest, I think a Pizza Ranch franchise would probably go over well here in west Tennessee, especially in one of the small towns just east of Memphis. I am particularly impressed by their vision and mission and encourage all who do have one of their restaurants withing easy driving distance to support them.
The Living Hope CD is a compilation of various artists whose songs encourage the listener to hope. The styles of the songs are quite varied with styles from folksy, to top 40, and even a little quirky. Obviously, not all of them will appeal to all listeners but I found that the more I listened, even the songs that were not exactly my preference grew on me. The album introduced me to a few artists I had not heard before and also contained songs by some old and new favorite artists. And let’s not forget “hope”. Each one of the songs contains lyrics that point to Jesus and the hope that is in him – and what could be better than that?
My favorite song on the CD is “Hold Onto Hope” by Ellie Holcomb. You can check out the other songs on the YouTube channel link below.

Michael W. Smith released his newest album “SOVEREIGN” earlier this month! His brand new video of a single from the album “Sky Spills Over,” premieres today and you can watch it for the first time here.
Here’s a quote from MWS on the video:
“I’m really passionate about the song SKY SPILLS OVER. It was fun creating it in the studio and I’ve been overwhelmed at the response it gets when we perform it live every night. My son Ryan is a really talented filmmaker so I always enjoy working with him on a project. But what made this project even more special was that 3 of my own grandkids were in the video. This video was a lot of fun to make. I hope people enjoy it!”
