MY REVIEW:
As a longtime fan of Gothic novels, I have been pleased to see several Christian authors begin to offer books in that genre. I’m not certain why I find those dark and mysterious books so intriguing but I do love them. Abigail Wilson is a fairly new author whose two books I’ve read fit into that genre very well.
Midnight on the River Grey features young Rebecca Hunter whose brother died under mysterious circumstances. Forced to live with her guardian, Lewis Browning who she believes is responsible for the death, Rebecca is determined to prove his guilt. As most readers know, things are not always as they seem and Rebecca may have a difficult finding the proof she needs. And is it possible that she may change her feelings toward her guardian?
I enjoyed this book immensely with its dark and brooding atmosphere, danger and secrets around every corner, and Rebecca’s own personal fears. The romance was not unexpected but welcome all the same. All-in-all this book was a satisfying experience and I would definitely read more by this author.

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Can one develop feelings for the man you swore to see hanged? That’s just what Rebecca fears she has done in this Gothic Regency romance.
After her brother’s mysterious death, Rebecca Hunter vows to expose the man she believes responsible: Mr. Lewis Browning—known by the locals as the Midnight Devil and by Rebecca as her new guardian.
Summoned to his reclusive country estate to await her London season, Rebecca plans her own secret investigation among the darkened corridors of the mysterious Greybourne Hall. Yet Lewis Browning is not as she once imagined, and his motivation is horribly unclear. Recurrent nightmares and Rebecca’s restless feelings are further complicated by the shadow of her mother’s prior descent into madness and wondering if she, too, will follow the same heartbreaking path.
Even as midnight rides, strange injuries, and further murders lead back to Mr. Browning, Rebecca can’t ignore the subtle turn of her heart. Has she fallen for the man she swore would pay for her brother’s death? And moreover, can she trust him with her uncertain future?

Welcome to the Blog Tour for The Rescue by Tanya Eavenson, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!
MY REVIEW:
Promised by her father to marry a much older and in my opinion truly evil man who held an unpayable debt over her father’s head, Rosalind Standford had no hope for her life. The man she has loved her entire life has returned to Boston but Rosalind must keep her circumstances secret from him at all costs and pretend she no longer cares for him.
The Rescue held my attention from its beginning until the end. Trent Easton was a true hero in every sense and quickly caught on to the danger that threatened Rosalind. Like a true hero he made every effort to remove her from harm and into the protection of his family ranch. I had absolutely no respect for Rosalind’s father who sacrificed his daughter’s safety and happiness to pay for his own mistakes and greed.
A riveting romantic suspense with a historical setting that spans from Boston to Texas, The Rescue is filled with plenty of action, danger, and a few unexpected twists. Characters must depend on the Lord to see them through threats on their lives and to help them forgive Rosalind’s father before they can find their own happily-ever-after.
I enjoyed reading this novel and hope to read more by this author in the future.

MY REVIEW:
I know I can always depend on a book by Colleen Coble to keep me reading well into the night and Strands of Truth was no exception. Her unique approach to DNA and family ancestry testing made me rethink my desire to have mine tested. I always thought it would be interesting to find out more about my ancestry but this novel offers a whole new twist of what could happen if the wrong relatives learned of your existence.
The heroine, Harper Taylor never knew her mother or father and grew up in foster homes where she always longed for a family. When she discovers a half-sister through DNA testing, both of them beyond excited to get to know each other. However a number of attempts to abduct both women as well as attacks on a man close to Harper send them on a mission to discover the truth behind them.
I enjoyed every minute of this suspense packed novel that contained one unexpected twist after another. I had a pretty good idea of the person behind everything before the end but the motives came as a total surprise. Strands of Truth is a riveting novel featuring complicated relationships as well as great suspense. It also didn’t hurt that the development of a romance was included.

MY REVIEW:
The author, Ronie Kendig, has taken a Biblical reference in the book of Numbers to an obscure and presumably lost Book of Wars and built a fantastic yet mostly believable tale. It is one of those books that can quickly grab the reader, pull her in, and not let her surface for air until the very end. This is not a book you want to begin at bedtime because you most assuredly will not get any sleep if you do.
Action-packed from page one, the narrative takes Leif and Iskra on a dangerous journey through strange and violent weather events and against a host of enemies determined to gain control of the lost book. Vivid descriptions help the reader experience everything as though there. Unexpected twists and revealed secrets added to the experience and kept me wanting to know more.
Storm Rising may just be the best book I’ve read from this author to date and I have enjoyed quite a few of her novels. If you love a book with a dynamic hero and plenty of action, danger, and suspense, then Storm Rising should be the next book on your TBR list. Do yourself a favor and do not miss this one!

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Does an Ancient Book of Prophecy Hold the Answers to Saving the World . . . Or Predict Its Destruction?
Mentioned in the pages of the Old Testament but lost to history, the Book of the Wars has resurfaced, and its pages hold secrets–and dangers–never before seen on earth.
Tasked with capturing the ancient text, former Navy SEAL Leif Metcalfe is once more given command of his own team. But their best efforts are ruined when a notorious Bulgarian operative known as Viorica snatches the volume right out from under them.
Iskra “Viorica” Todorova is determined to use the book to secure the thing that matters most–freedom. But a series of strange storms erupts around the globe, and the coming dangers foretold in the text threaten crops, lives, and entire nations. Though both are haunted by secrets of the past and neither trusts the other, Leif and Iskra must form an uneasy alliance to thwart impending disaster. However, the truth hidden in centuries-old words could unleash a storm of their own destruction.

MY REVIEW:
Deadly Intentions is one of those books that makes me a bit resentful of the demands of real life. Cooking and cleaning just do not stand up very well against finding out what might happen next in this fast-paced, suspense-filled narrative. Several of Caitlyn’s research team have died randomly over the past year and Caitlyn herself has just survived a hit-and-run. She needs to talk with someone but there is no one she can trust, except perhaps her dead friend’s husband Josh Solomon who is also a police detective. As she shares her suspicions with Josh, they agree that the deaths cannot be merely coincidental and find themselves right in the middle of a deadly game.
Lisa Harris is another author who has been added to my ever-growing Must Read list. Her characters are so realistic that I can easily relate to their experiences. Her vivid plots could easily have come from today’s news. I love how she deftly weaves her Christian faith into the story in such a natural way. Lots of action, danger, suspense, and plot twists keep me reading and a bit of romance is the icing on the cake.

ABOUT THE BOOK:
There is no such thing as random
Research scientist Caitlyn Lindsey is convinced that someone is taking out her team one by one. First, a friend and research partner was killed in a home invasion. Three months ago, her boss died in a suspicious car accident. Four days ago, another partner supposedly committed suicide. And now Caitlyn herself has miraculously survived a hit-and-run. Afraid for her life with nowhere to turn, she reaches out to one of the victims’ husbands, Detective Josh Solomon.
Though initially skeptical about Caitlyn’s theory, Josh soon realizes the attack that took his wife’s life was anything but random. Now the two of them must discover the truth about who is after Caitlyn’s team–and what their end game is–before it’s too late.
