Scars by Linda K. Rodante

Welcome to the Blog + Review Blitz for SCARS by Linda K. Rodante, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

MY REVIEW:

I hate to confess that I have not read the previous books in Linda K. Rodante’s Spiritual Warfare series. After reading Scars, I plan to remedy that as soon as possible.

Although Scars is the final book in the series, it was easily a stand alone novel. I would love to read the back stories of various characters in the book but I had no problems keeping up with the story.

The narrative centered around a rehab center run by a church that ministered to former gang members, alcoholics, and addicts. Characters included both staff and residents of the center. It was eye-opening to read about the struggles to overcome experienced by the program participants. Examples of prayer and spiritual warfare were scattered throughout the story as both staff and residents experienced one crisis after another.

I especially liked a scene where one of the residents exhorted one of the volunteers which brought truth into her life and set her free. This individual had not made his own decision for Christ at that point but the Holy Spirit used him to minister to the other person.

Scars is a powerful tale that is well worth a reader’s time. I highly recommend it.

Christmas Baby Rescue by Jordyn Redwood

MY REVIEW:

It has been awhile since I read a book by Jordyn Redwood. I wasn’t very many pages into Christmas Baby Rescue before I remembered how much I like her books. Her character and plot development are excellent, especially within the requirements of the shorter mass market Love Inspired books.

The author pulled me right into the action almost immediately and I was taken on a breath-taking adventure along with Liam and Ashlyn as they worked desperately to stay alive while protecting her infant niece. I followed them through various plot twists and a surprise or two along the way to the satisfying conclusion.

I loved the fact that hero Liam was handicapped by PTSD and felt inadequate to protect Ashlyn and her niece but he persisted even when circumstances threatened to send him into an episode on more than one occasion. Ashlyn’s determination and compassion were admirable. It was also fun observing the development of a romantic relationship between the two.

I will definitely will not be waiting so long to read another book by this author and I recommend her to other readers.

Range by Ronie Kendig

Welcome to the Blog + Review Blitz for Range by Ronie Kendig, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

MY REVIEW:

I feel inadequate to review this novel. Range is one of those stories that is incredibly difficult to read because it truthfully exposes just how evil some people in power can be. Several characters have experienced things most of us cannot even imagine yet they have somehow never lost hope and continue to attempt to help others in similar circumstances.

Kasra is one of those characters. She has endured mistreatment and degradation to her own body as well as earning the disreputable reputation of the madame who sells young women and children for the sex trade. But Kasra has worked quietly behind the scenes to help as many of them escape as possible. She has not always been successful but her heart yearns to see them all free. Range is one of the men sent to Afghanistan to capture Kasra in order to expose the leaders of the trafficking business. His only focus is to see her punished. Forced to flee together when things go horribly wrong, Range and Kasra learn more about each other than expected and each of them is surprised at what they find.

Range is an exciting tale filled with action and danger. Readers will learn more than they probably want to about the horrors of human trafficking but the author handles the subject carefully and without unneeded information. I found Kazra to be an extraordinary woman and was encouraged by how Range was eventually able to see the real person inside her.

Although Range can be difficult to read at times, I found it to be a story full of hope. I encourage other readers to give it a chance.

Abduction Cold Case by Connie Queen

Welcome to the Blog + Review Tour for Abduction Cold Case by Connie Queen, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

MY REVIEW:

Abduction Cold Case quickly caught my attention just a few pages into the book. Not only did the action and danger kick off quickly but I was intrigued by the personal connection of cold case psychologist Kennedy Wells to the case. Could it be a coincidence. Then there was Texas Ranger Silas Boone, on leave from his job and who just happened to be a witness to the original abduction.

As the story progressed, the danger and suspense escalated and unanswered questions increased. Why was the case folder left on Kennedy’s desk? Who wanted Kennedy out of the way and why? Could her parents have lied to her all her life? Answers to these questions and more are found within the pages of this book as well as plenty of unexpected twists and a sweet romance.

I thoroughly enjoyed Abduction Cold Case and look forward to reading more books by this author in the future.

Defending Honor by Lynette Eason with Kelly Underwood

Welcome to the Instagram + Review Tour for Defending Honor  by Kelly Underwood presented by Lynette Eason,, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

MY REVIEW:

Defending Honor is another installment of Eason’s Elite Guardians Collection published by Sunrise Publishing. As expected the action begins almost immediately and doesn’t let up until the end. Plenty of unexpected twists and surprises leave readers wondering who wants to do away with Preston Whittaker as well as anyone close to him. Former Mossad agent Laila Rabbinowitz would like the answer to that also as she is assigned to protect him while trying to stay alive herself.

A page-turner indeed, Defending Honor was everything I expected. Excellent character development and escalating danger made the book an enjoyable read. An unwanted attraction between Laila and Preston added to the mix and it was fun to observe its development. Preston’s personal growth was especially encouraging.

As always I recommend anything by Lynette Eason and I love how she and other established authors are providing new authors an opportunity through Sunrise Publishing.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book provided by JustReads Publicity. A favorable review was not required. All views expressed are my own.
